Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.

Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the events of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Seekers and Planners parties.

Audiences can expect learning which players will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
